IN season one paolo(rachel's italian bf) speaks italian obviously and we know that Joey is also italian and speaks italian. So why doesn't joey understand what Paolo is saying and translate or something?

Wow, I never thought of that before. Well, Joey isn't exactly the sharpest knife. Plus, in one episode where he auditioned, he apparently had an awful Italian accent, so maybe he can't even speak Italian, I don't know.
