TV Show from the 80s or 90s with possible talking dog?

I am trying to recall the name of a television show that may or may not have had a talking dog (perhaps viewers were just able to hear the dog's thoughts?).

One episode that I remember involved the family being locked out of the house. The family consisted of a young blond pre-teen boy, his mother and it is possible there were other characters, too. The dog was an intelligent dog, perhaps a golden retriever... for some reason I think he may have been a relative (uncle?) of the family's; the name "Jack" rings a bell, but may not relate to this show. I remember a laugh track, and a red Hawaiian shirt (on the dog?) but these, also, could be inaccurate memories.

Your suggestions are greatly appreciated.

It might be 100 Deeds for Eddie McDowd.

"The show's premise is that the title character, schoolyard bully Eddie McDowd, is punished by a man called The Drifter because of Eddie's behavior. The 16-year-old finds himself very attractive and powerful and so he bullies others without mercy. The Drifter plans to make Eddie pay for his wrongdoings and turns the boy into an Australian Shepherd/Siberian Husky mix, informing him that he has to do 100 good deeds before he can be changed back. Besides The Drifter, the only one who can hear Eddie talk is Justin Taylor, who was the last kid Eddie bullied. Now Eddie must work alongside Justin and the Taylor family to finish his good deeds and become human once again. It is explained by The Drifter in a later episode that should this happen, neither Justin nor Eddie will outright remember their experiences (though Eddie will still be a better person for it)."

Hope this is it:)

I know you posted this years ago, and your username is probably unused any longer. However sometimes a little long shot can go a long way, especially with information that might never have been given clarity or closure.

So just in case you didn't find it; I was curious about this myself today after seeing one of the Woolvett brothers in a tv series.

Married with children had a dog which i'm pretty sure was a golden retriever. Someone basically said his thoughts about once each episode and people laughed at them even though they weren't very funny. But I thought the dog's name was bud or maybe bubba. The dad, al, was a shoe salesman and his wife had big light brown hair. The daughter was blonde and in her 20s and the son was a teenager with brown hair.
