I've gotten into Brit TV in a big way lately esp Fawlty (English way of spelling Faulty) Towers about a hotel. Does anyone know what else Monty Python has done? I saw him in a Fish Called Wanda and FT but has he done anything else?

We spell the word Faulty exactly the same in the UK as you do in the US. The title "Fawlty Towers" is supposed to be a pun on Basil's surname.

After Python, John Cleese's best individual TV work is definitely Fawlty Towers (which is kind of sad considering it was made way back in the late 1970s) but he has played many character roles in lots of tv shows and movies, not all of them comedies...he played a sheriff in the western movie "Silverado" and he even appears in a couple of the recent James Bond and Harry Potter movies. He says he works constantly because he has a lot of alimony to pay after he was divorced from his ex-wife Connie Booth, who was the American actress who played Polly the waitress in Fawlty Towers.

Apart from the excellent "A Fish called Wanda", and assuming you already know about the Python movies "Holy Grail," "Life of Brian" and "Meaning of Life", I'd recommend a Cleese solo movie called "Clockwise" made in 1986, which is very enjoyable and full of laughs.

Start with Monty Python and the Holy Grail... Life of Brian... and the Meaning of Life. The TV show is a sketch show, typically with no true ending to a sketch... some are hilarious, quotable classics... others well it was experimental tv at its best.

As others have said many of the troupe did other projects which had a bit of the Monty Python feel... Erik the Viking (Cleese was the bad guy), A Fish Called Wanda & Time Bandits jump foremost to mind.

Gilliam went on to direct with a definite style to his movies you can pick up on.... my favorite is 12 Monkeys.

oh, and remember: Always look on the bright side of life, and nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!

Monty Python was a British comedy troupe. They had a series called Monty Python's Flying Circus that ran from 1969-1974. They did 45 episodes. After it ended, it came to America.

After Flying Circus they did 4 movies as Monty Python.

And Now for Something Completely Different

Holy Grail

The Life of Brian

The Meaning of Life

The members are

John Cleese

Terry Jones

Terry Gilliam

Graham Chapman

Michael Palin

Eric Idle

Graham died in 1989 of cancer. The other members still perform and make movies.

For example Michael Palin was in Jabberwocky about a boy fighting a dragon. John Cleese was in A Fish Called Wanda with Jamie Lee Curtis.

Terry Gilliam has directed many movies, including Brazil and The Imagimarium of Dr Pernisius.

See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monty_Python for more information.

The play Spamalot is a Broadway play based on Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

I have a Knights Who Say Ni ringtone on my phone. Its a funny routine in Holy Grail.

If you have Netflix, Flying Circus is on there, as well as the movies and many other specials. Live at the Hollywood Bowl is a concert film of one of their live performances. Nudge Nudge Wink Wink

Monty Python is not a person.

You're talking about the actor John Cleese

Life of Brian, and MontybPython and the Holy Grail. Also you should look up other movies those guys are in... John Cleese has done a lot of funny movies not connected to Monty Python.

Ha-ha did you really think John Cleese was Monty Python? Anyway there are the Monty Python films, Holy Grail, Life of Brian, Time Bandits, The Meaning of Life. Somebody also mentioned A Fish Called Wanda that Cleese starred in. Cleese has also had a supporting role as R in two or three of the Bond films, The World Is Not Enough was one I think. Can't really think of anything else he's been in off the top of my head but he has appeared in numerous films in supporting roles. I think he was in the Pink Panther 2 with Steve Martin.
