I was just watching South Park and it showed the virgin mary bleeding out her buttocks. Now I've seen very controversial episodes of cartoons before, even with racism. I felt a little weird before about some of the things they did but this has never happened before, I just felt very uncomfortable watching it and had to change the channel. I don't consider myself an extraordinary religious person at all, but to Absolutely exclude the fact that their was never any god and not even that but just to simply make fun of it, I just feel wrong watching it in humor. Is that weird??? Why is that happening and has this ever happened to you?

Also, does anybody think that there is way to much disability jokes on cartoons these days, I mean I watch them all the time, Family guy, south park and I always laugh but lately I feel wrong, my sister in law is in a wheel chair and i can just picture her sitting at home thinking "how can a world make fun of me for being disabled?"

Well... it's a cartoon. You have the right to be offended. I like South Park, and on occasion Family Guy, but I will admit there are a few episodes that I really don't like. Not the one you mentioned, but I do find certain ones distasteful. So I simply don't watch the offending episodes.

It's okay to change the channel if you don't like it. It's okay to express yourself. It's up to you whether or not you're offended to the point where you no longer watch the shows anymore.

Personally, I like South Park enough that I continue to watch it. I don't have to agree with everything they do, but it's their show.

I am a big South Park fan, have been for years. However, the way you're feeling is fine...in fact, you should feel good that your conscious is getting the better of you. South Park is the nasty show with the heart of gold......you just have to know how to take it. The episode in which you're refering was about Stan's dad having alcoholism and how he was making it into a degenerative disease. The bloody Mary and the fact that it was "nothing special"; as the Pope said on the episode is actually a lesson in putting your hopes into false symbolism. Not to get all preachy but the Bible said not to worship things like statues and icons and other material objects. These people who are always praying to these "crying" and "bleeding" statues of Mary are sinners....they are worshiping a false idol. South Park threw it in your face and said..."LOOK!! Look how stupid this is!! People do this!! LOOK!!"

Now in regards to what's okay and what's not okay to make fun of on television.....and remember this is television, its not real life. If you want real life, walk out your front door.....you watch television for a little escape from real life. Even reality shows aren't "real life". But I digress, it's either all okay or none of it is. The minute you start censoring stuff on the media you start a chain reaction....this group doesn't like this, then that group doesn't like that, and this group wants that cut out...and so on and so on. Soon, we're living in 1934 Germany. So, in conclusion....it's okay to feel a bit awkward watching humor you find distasteful.....you're not guaranteed to like everything. But you have the power not to watch it......that's what the remote is for.

As others have already said, you can't take South Park too seriously. It is indeed from the viewpoint of a child - an 8-9 year old boy to be exact. When you are of that age you tend to blurt things out they may be racist or disrespectful so that's exactly what Trey and Matt are doing :] It's funny as hell as well lol. Trey & Matt make fun of everything, they have said multiple times in interviews that they refuse to leave ANYTHING out. Because if you make fun of all these things, and you leave one out and decide it's just too offensive, what makes it okay to rip on all the other things you've done in the past?

You ave to learn to laugh at yourself sometimes :D I'm asian and I think the asian jokes on South Park are hilarious that shity wok guy has a kickass chinese accent haha.

Oh, and Family Guy is no where near as cool as South Park :P

First of all- Family Guys sucks.

Second- South Park makes fun of everyone and everything. If you don't like it, you certainly don't have to watch it- but that's just the way it is. South Park makes fun of religion in that episode- there are also episodes where they poke fun at the theory of Evolution, and how it completely discounts God in the process- Even Stan says "Couldn't Evolutions be the answer to how, and not to why?"

That particular episode of South Park made fun of AA more than it did religon- in my opinion.

South Park just is what it is. I think it's great, others don't get it- and that's okay. I don't get Family Guy. How are a bunch of random jokes funny?! South Park makes fun of Family Guy in one of their eposides called Cartoon Wars. I don't think it's fair to compare South Park to Family Guy. Cartman says it best:

Cartman: Do you have any idea what it's like? Everywhere I go: Hey Cartman you must like Family Guy, right? Hey, your sense of humor reminds me of Family Guy, Cartman! I am nothing like Family Guy! When I make jokes they are inherent to a story! Deep situational and emotional jokes based on what is relevant and has a point, not just one random interchangeable joke after another!

no longer lots of centuries in the past, they might have. although, Christians and Jews -- the West ordinarily -- underwent an Enlightenment that the Islamic international has yet to adventure. a sort of days they're going to, yet do by no ability forget approximately that there substitute right into a time whilst Christians might have become merely as hysterical and merciless over some perceived insult to their faith. The Jews have reason to be conscious of that greater suitable than absolutely everyone else.

i think family guy lacks all class.

however i get a real hoot out of south park.

you have to realize they are doing this from the eyes of a child - do you forget just how crazy you may have thought the world was when you were a child - and yet you had no idea it was crazy you were just struggling to make sense of it all?

well i think they do a great job - BUT - if you find an episode crazy change the channel.

sometimes i am very sensitive and am offended at everything i see on t-v - at those times i do not watch t-v.

Well South Park makes fun of disabled people, yes. But they also make fun of everyone. They make fun of black people asians, white people, celebrities, Jews, catholics, muslims, canadians, disabled people, and much more. So you just gotta laugh at yourself some times, and not take it as an offense and get pissed off and everything.

Southpark? Well in my opinion, Southpark Imitates real life and takes into the extreme, BUT it's still funny as hell. Especially Cartman sung "There are too many minorities, at my water park."
