The target audience is defined in terms of demographic (and sometimes psychographic) characteristics, such as age, sex, education, income, buying habits, and the like. Here is a discussion about the target audience of the Simpsons:
By J. Solimine "Don't make stupid assumptions"
This is the last good season of the Simpsons. I am a Simpsons purist. You may say well you are too old and not the target audience anymore but, I am 15 so I was not yet born when this show began. I have seasons one through ten on dvd and watch them regularly. You obviously did not understand or pick up on the true genius of the early seasons. They were hysterical and I have still not gotten bored of them. But on to another point, the Simpsons truly have changed and went far downhill. They went from such ideas as Mr. Plow, The Stone Cutters, the infamous Two cars in every garage and three eyes of every fish, and who could forget Homer's Enemy Frank Grimes or as his friends like to refer to him Grimy. Now that you are thinking about how great they were look what they have now I saw now they are having Marge be an online gamer, wow that sounds like a really good idea, or how about Ralph Wiggum running for president, that was sure a great one. I can not stand the new seasons of the Simpsons and they really need to stop before they just embarrass themselves further. Do not even get me started on the movie which was the last act of a desperate man trying to squeeze as much money out of a fading piece of history. I was so excited to see it when i saw they were making a movie but then began to think how bad the show has gotten and the movie just tried to use the things that were not allowed on tv. It was the most pathetic thing I have ever seen and I wish I had never viewed it but sadly I saw it in the theaters and left after about half way through I could not take it.
This is all proving that I am part of the target audience and have stopped watching years ago.

who's their purpose... 18-39 year outdated adult males. the thank you to purpose... The coach is in actuality informed from Homer's viewpoint, specific there are quite some memories and tale strains that do not contain Homer... yet Homer is the lead and Homer is a prior due 30's early forty's balding fats guy... like many in the focused purpose marketplace... Why does it charm... humans in that purpose marketplace relate to the evaluations of the coach, enormously Homers. They get excitement from the actuality that Homer can say issues they are in a place to't... and this is humorous. 18-39 year outdated adult males additionally relate to Bart, because of the fact starting to be they have been or knew a Bart. so as that they have been Bart and would relate and now they are Homer and would relate.

I'm not sure they target to attract, but many people watch it. Including children sneaking episodes before their parents get home and old men that are lonely eating steak on their TV trays.
I have been watching the show since I was 8. Even if I didn't get some of the jokes, I still liked it. I think it's hilarious.
I have a cruel sense of humor.
